How To Simplify Your Life and Eliminate the Unnecessary

A lot has changed over the years in terms of how we live our lives. Technology has greatly evolved, and our modern world often seems to revolve around it.

From smartphones to smart homes, tech has taken over the way we live day-to-day.

And, although many of the advancements have helped improve our daily routines, there are times when I yearn for simpler times.

How To Simplify Your Life and Eliminate the Unnecessary

Simplify Your Life

It’s been said that in order to simplify your life you must remove the distractions and focus more on the things that matter.

The people that matter.

This past year, I’ve discovered more than ever before how much I need my family and why I should always put them first.

Clearing out the clutter in a few key areas of my life has made that easier. Once you stop and look around, it’s often easy to remove the distractions and focus on the good.

The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.”

– Hans Hofmann

Therefore,

find ways to simplify your life

and eliminate the unnecessary.

Have a Plan

Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, create a schedule for your daily routine. Routines create less chaos.

You know what to expect, therefore reducing stress and anxiety. Meal planning can simplify grocery shopping and family meals.

A family calendar will keep everyone up-to-date on activities and appointments; and a set bedtime routine, such as bathtime and brushing teeth, establishes easier transitions.

When you know what’s to come it simplifies the process.

Stay Focused

Sometimes it pays to slow down and stop trying to do everything at once. To focus on the task at hand and give it our undivided attention.

Multi-tasking may make things seem to go faster, but it often produces less quality results. Be fully present and focused when you’re present.

Give the people and tasks before you 100% and you will discover how much better the outcome will be.

No is a Sentence

One of the biggest problems many of us face today is busyness. We often find ourselves agreeing to do more than our schedule allows and over-commit.

Whether looking to “keep up with the Joneses” or a fear of missing out, we forget how to say NO.

We want to be able to help others in their pursuit of simplicity and forget about our own quest; again, unable to say NO.

But, once you learn to say “yes” less and discover that “NO” is a complete sentence – needing no explanation – you will find more simplicity for yourself.

Take Me Time

As parents, finding time alone can often be one of our most challenging struggles. Yet, there is something to be said about taking time to do something for yourself.

Remove all the distractions around you and practice mindfulness. Take a warm bath or shower, clear your mind, and focus on the quiet.

Think about a time when modern technology didn’t exist, and things were simpler.

For example, in 1879, when Harley Procter developed Ivory Soap with pure & purposeful ingredients.

Times have changed since 1879, but more than ever consumers need brands that are safe and gentle enough for their family. In fact, “it may be a simple formula, but staying true to this promise has kept Ivory pure, clean, and gentle for seven generations.”

Ivory aims to simplify life so you can spend more time on the things that matter most.
