When I opened an email inviting Colby and I to the Red Bull Air Race in Indianapolis, I had no idea what to expect from the event. Was I excited? Of course! I jumped online and started researching everything I could.

But first, thanks to Red Bull, I was given the once-in-lifetime opportunity to take a G-Flight Experience with a Red Bull Air Race Challenger Class Pilot, Luke Czepiela, from Poland. We pulled 6G, did several rolls and other acrobatic maneuvers I don’t know the names of, but it was AWESOME!

Now, back to my research! During my reading, I discovered two things about the Air Race that really piqued my interest: (1) safety behind the event and (2) how family-friendly it is. The first being incredibly important for all involved and the second being important to us as a family.

Once we arrived at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, we began taking everything in. We wanted to learn all we could about the event itself, the planes, the pilots, and all of the family-friendly activities during the race.

The Side Acts, including Stunt Bike riders and Aerobatic Helicopters, were both exciting and engaging for the audience. After watching riders such as Aaron Colton ride, fans were able to get autographs and interact with the athletes.

Plus, if guests want to get a closer look at the planes, The Hangar Viewing Area offers a close-up glimpse of the technical operations and race weekend routines of race teams and airport operations.

Fun Fact: Indianapolis Motor Speedway becomes an official runway during the event, working with the FAA and local aviation authorities.

Not to mention, you could catch a glimpse of a pilot or two. Kids and adults alike seem to really enjoy seeing their favorite pilots.

Finally, the Red Bull Air Race itself offers guests incredible views of amazing aerobatic maneuvers pulling up to 12G through race pylons as pilots fly through the course. Watch as each pilot soars through the air working to get the fastest time!
