If I am being honest, there is nothing more admirable for my husband to do than to love our kids unconditionally. When I see him with our children, my heart skips a beat. Still. Even after all these years! I love seeing him playing with them and teaching them the art of having fun! This Father’s Day, I may be encouraging it even more by setting up a fun selection of carnival themed NERF games in our backyard. After all, we’re all just kids at heart!
Carnival Themed NERF Games
Looking around our house, we were able to easily come up with a few ideas for the carnival theme that required nothing more than a bit of imagination. Using a few craft supplies and household items, we were ready to play in no time! Inspired by traditional carnival games and the new NERF N-Strike Modulus ECS-10 Blaster and NERF N-Strike Elite Stryfe Blaster, the girls were excited to play in the backyard midway with their dad.
Using a free printable coloring page we found online, we colored a happy clown face with markers, cut out his nose, and then glued it to the side of a cardboard box. The idea is to use the NERF N-Strike Elite Stryfe Blaster, which can launch a dart up to 75 feet with one hand, to “make the clown laugh.” By hitting the target (the clown’s nose), you can win a prize at this fun midway game!
Tin Can Alley
Traditionally, carnival players use softballs to knock down the tin cans. We decided to use red plastic cups stacked high in lieu of tin cans simply based on availability. Then, each player was able to use the NERF N-Strike Modulus ECS-10 Blaster to try and knock down a pyramid of cups. With the ability to blast darts at targets up to 90 feet away, this was an exciting game for everyone to try!
Tip the Cat
In our version of the game, we covered empty toilet paper rolls in white paper, then painted red stripes on them. Again, our NERF Blasters were used to try to “tip the cat” for the chance to win a prize. This game required a bit more scale with smaller targets, so the targeting scope on the NERF N-Strike Modulus ECS-10 Blaster came in handy!
We all know how to play Tic-Tac-Toe, right? Only in this version, we use more red plastic cups, glue, and a cardboard box. We spread nine cups equally across a side of the box and then used the NERF toys to try to make three in a row with the darts. Three in a row wins every time.
Creating our backyard carnival was easy using things we found inside our craft box and kitchen. Colby had a great time playing with the girls and the NERF Blasters lasted all day with no worries thanks to the Duracell batteries inside! In fact, check out the Toys”R”Us circular found in most Sunday newspapers for great offers this week — including buy 1 pack of Duracell get the 2nd 40% off. In addition to the circular offer, select Elite Blasters will be 20% off. Toys”R”Us is the perfect one stop shop to pick up ALL of your favorite summer toys.
In order to help you kick off your summer, Duracell wants to give one lucky reader a prize pack to get started! They know that batteries are often required, but not included with the toy, so they want to make sure you have plenty of fresh Duracell batteries on hand.
