Packing lunch for the kids is no joke. It actually takes some careful planning, deliberate shopping, and strategic prepping. Then, after all that, you send them off to school with a perfectly packed lunch and cross your fingers they will eat it. Then you have the added worry of whether or not they will clean their hands before and after they eat. Oh boy. Fortunately for us parents, we have Wet Ones® to rely on. Now to teach the kids to do the same.
Packing School Lunches
In addition to wanting my children to eat and be well-fed while at school, I also want to keep them healthy. Therefore, as I pack their lunches for the school day ahead, I also include Wet Ones® Singles, a necessity in every kid’s school lunch. Keeping clean hands and killing 99.9% of germs with Wet Ones®, kids can enjoy their awesome lunch and you can worry (a little) less. Take a look at these few tips for packing school lunches that seem to help.
Get Kids Be Involved
Whether your child likes what is coming out of your kitchen or not, there is no reason why they can’t be involved. Starting with the menu, the kids know exactly what they want to eat. So, give them a bit of freedom with the lunchbox. Working on a menu together is a fabulous way to get your child excited for lunch again!
Pack Their Favorites
Go ahead. Pack their favorite foods. They need to be able to focus and learn while at school. Sometimes that can definitely mean a bit of compromise on both parts when it comes to food. If they only want to eat chicken wraps for a month, well, at least they’re eating. Simply try to offer a variety with each lunch and they will eventually start to try more foods.
I am sure you have seen all of the amazing school lunch ideas on Pinterest. They are everywhere. Sometimes kids just need a little motivation to break out of the routine. Have some fun and get creative with their lunches. Playing with your food is alright when it means you are more inclined to actually eat it! For instance, our girls love pizza. A mini bagel, bit of pizza sauce and handful of mozzarella cheese are perfect for making their own pizza at school!
Ever since my oldest started kindergarten I have been including notes in lunches. Grab a pen and write out a few encouraging words on a napkin or piece of paper. They enjoy knowing you pt the extra effort in, as well as knowing you are thinking about them. It is often the little things that mean the most.
However you find to encourage your kids to eat a healthy school lunch, go with it! Make sure they understand the proper way to sanitize before their meal using the Wet Ones® Singles… as well as after lunch to clean both germs and grime from their hands. Together you and your child can get through the school year germ-free.
