Planning and Learning with Review

We have been homeschooling our older two children for over 10 years. In that 10 years, we have tried all sorts of curriculum and learning activities. We quickly found that they each learned differently, so what worked for one may not work for the other. So, we had to be flexible about changing our planning and learning techniques. Now, as we begin the journey with our younger three, we are doing more of the same.

I have been searching for affordable resources to use with the girls since they are so excited about learning, at least for now. I hope to keep that momentum up, but will have to keep them busy in order to do so. Our 10 year old gets bored fast so I have to keep her challenged. Since she has been wanting to learn the guitar, we have actually purchased one for Christmas and, using the Yearly Membership Option from, I was able to find her guitar lessons!

This is so very exciting for me because there is nothing I want more than to encourage my children to live out their dreams. I often tell Colby that the only thing holding them back sometimes is us. I do not want to be that parent. I was also able to find Voice lessons as well as ones for the Recorder. We could have a whole band here soon!

Additionally, as I continued perusing, I also found an Introduction to Spanish class that the girls were excited about. We have been trying different methods to help them learn a second language and are eager to see how we can incorporate these lessons into our schedule. The videos that accompany the lessons are so extremely helpful! The guitar lessons have them as well. Makes learning for visual learners much easier for sure!

In fact, through’s Yearly Membership Option we have already discovered several unique electives, as well as core studies, to add to our home education journey. Plus, for just $139 a year, the price was well beneath several other resources we had looked at purchasing. The girls, as well as Colby and I, are excited about the possibilities ahead. Just take a look at some of the many benefits included in the Yearly Membership Option:

  • Daily, weekly, and monthly lessons available 24/7/365
  • Free membership to Applecore
  • Variety of resources including print, audio, and video
  • Schoolhouse Planners including almost 800 pages of forms and resources
  • Recorded Expos with presentations by notable homeschool speakers and experts

Again, that is only a small sampling. There really is so much to be found to complement your digital learning experience. Best of all, it is one family, one fee. So no matter how many family members you have, the fee covers the use of materials for everyone. Love that! Not to mention, the resources provided are perfect for children of all age ranges and grade levels… as well as for mom and dad as they help guide the students.

  1. That’s great that music lessons have worked out for your family! I just may have to consider the piano and voice lessons. Two of our children would love to learn more of both! Blessings!
