4 Reasons Kids Should Play Soccer

4 Reasons Kids Should Play Soccer : i9 Sports

Our oldest daughter played soccer for about 7 years. She began when she was 4 years old and was a natural on the field. Over the course of the years, we watched her grow stronger, more confident, and make friends that would carry through to adulthood. In fact, one of those friends introduced her to the man she married just over a month ago. Soccer was good to her, as well as us as a family. Being able to introduce our middle two daughters to soccer through i9 Sports is just as exciting for us!

Now, no, we are not looking for future husbands for these two! But, we are looking for the same confidence and strength that their older sister was able to carry off the field. Honestly, there are a number of reason kids should play soccer, and we are hoping that each one of them rings true for our goals over the fall season with i9 Sports.

Reasons Kids Should Play Soccer

Listening

At each practice and subsequent game, the instructors focus on one main goal. For our first week, that goal was listening. The best listener at the end of practice then receives a gold medal, as well as a yard sign to celebrate their achievement. They bring it back and the next week it goes to the winner of that week’s best goal setter. Having the girls focus on listening to instruction and learning the skills necessary to play the game only enhances their ability to do the same at home.

Teamwork

Sure, for our kids at least, coming from a large family, teamwork is part of our daily life. Yet, being on the field, playing by a designated set of rules, and being part of a team, all help foster friendships. Not to mention, being part of a team further develops unity, a sense of belonging, and good sportsmanship. Each of these life skills will help them as they grow into adulthood.

Fitness

In today’s connected world perhaps more than ever before, kids need to get outside and take part in physical activities. With technology literally in their hands, soccer is a fantastic way to encourage cardiovascular fitness and endurance. There is nothing like running the length of a soccer field for about 45 minutes to get your blood circulating.

Perseverance

We noticed the change all of the kids experienced after just one practice and game with i9 Sports. Several of the kids were rookies, just like both of our daughters, whereas a few had played for a few years. When they first stepped onto the field, each of their individual strengths and weaknesses were apparent. Those that had the perseverance and determination to work hard improved greatly by the end of our time together.
