5 Must-Haves for the Perfect Tailgate

5 Must-Haves for the Perfect Tailgate Party : Coca-Cola

We live in Texas, Ya’ll. In case you missed the movie and subsequent TV show afterwards, it’s all about Friday Night Lights and the “Boys of Fall” around here. You know, “America’s Team” and all. I could go on and on about how HUGE football is around here. But, just as important as the game is the party outside the stadium. The perfect tailgate party is definitely part of the experience and you have to at least attend one to understand.

Or, go ahead and host your own! A little preparation and you can create the ultimate tailgating party of your own. It’s a time-honored tradition and there are a few must-haves for the perfect tailgate party that will help you in planning.

Must-Have food and drinks for the Perfect Tailgate Party

Food and Drinks

This, my friends, is the most essential part of any tailgate party. Based on your available tools (such as a grill) and other variables, food can vary from sandwiches to ribs to burgers. We have found that the best way to go is finger foods. This gives everyone a free hand for holding their plate with one hand and eating with the other. Or, more importantly, eating with one hand and holding a Coca-Cola with the other. Hot dogs, chips, dips, chili, and other appetizers work great for tailgating. As long as you have plenty of food and Coca-Cola at your party, you will have friends wanting to stop by and join the festivities. After all, Coca-Cola can help celebrate moments that wouldn’t be as special without Coke.

Supplies

Speaking of eating, make sure you have the proper supplies for all the food and drinks. Disposable plates, utensils, cup and napkins help make clean-up easy. Bring along trash bags and be sure to clean up before heading into the stadium to cheer on your favorite team. If you have a grill, don’t forget the propane or charcoal, and a lighter. Plus, don’t forget a cooler full of ice to keep the Coca-Cola nice and cold. Bug spray, sunscreen, and foam fingers are always great to have as well. Well, foam fingers are optional but make things fun!

Folding Chairs

Depending on how early you arrive to party, you and your fellow partiers, may need to have a seat and rest your feet before the game. Grab a few folding chairs (preferably with cup holders) to set out. With no real tables for eating, the cup holders are perfect for immobilizing your Coca-Cola and giving you both hands for eating. Plus, your lap makes a perfect table at a tailgate party.

Activities

Again, depending on how long you arrive to party before the game, activities help keep the party alive and kicking. Bring a Bluetooth speaker and a tailgate party playlist ready to go. Throw a game such as cornhole into the truck and bring it out to play. Something as easy as a football or flying disc would also make for great pre-game fun. Think of the space you may have available and go from there.

Team Spirit

Okay, so this is pretty much a given, but come ready for fun and competition. Wear your team colors, throw on your favorite player’s jersey, or simply cheer with the rest of them. It can get pretty intense and the tailgate party is a great precursor to the excitement on the field.

Grab your tailgating supplies, throw on your game gear, and head to the stadium parking lot. Get pumped up before the game and carry that enthusiasm into the stadium once the game starts. Have fun and enjoy the game. May the best team win!
