Ginnifer Goodwin Speaks About Motherhood and Voicing Fawn in NeverBeast

Disney disclosure

As much as we may not seem to realize it, actors and actresses are people too. They still “put their pants on one leg at a time” just as the rest of us do. When Ginnifer Goodwin was pregnant while working on Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast, she quickly realized the challenges of motherhood.

Doing voice acting may sound like a walk in the park, but Ginnifer told us that 4 hours in the sound booth can be just as exhausting as a 17-hour workday on the set. The voice work can be more emotionally exhausting than what they try to control in live action work. And even though she began her time in the recording booth sitting, she was soon told to stand up and actually act through the lines. It actually ended up being much better for her overall.

Well, until her pregnancy demanded she take a bit of time off her feet. The day she came in to work after being given these instructions, she was met with giggles from others in the studio. She soon discovered it was because they had set up a bed, complete with a selection of Disney stuffed animals, for her to work from. It allowed her to finish her scenes as well as properly take care of herself and her baby.

Plus, Ginnifer was completely transparent with us when it came to her emotions. Yes, her pregnancy hormones made the emotional scenes a bit easier to act through, but she said in reality, she is a”crybaby.” She was fortunate to find a career that gives her an outlet to express those sensitivities. Being pregnant just took it to a whole new level.

When trying to find Fawn’s voice, Ms. Goodwin realized she could not use the same tools she did when doing live acting. Although Fawn’s character was not still not a big stretch from who she was personally, it was different when she noticed how much she expressed herself physically. Without the physical element, she now had to stay connected and grounded, yet be real and emotional… in a larger than life way. Otherwise, Fawn did not seem to be expressing herself in the film as much as Ginnifer thought she should. Once she made these changes, it made Fawn come to life.

And now that her son is here, Ginnifer has a few new perspectives on the future. Once she is ready to look for her next gig, she may be going for something with a bit more adult action to satisfy her own creative satisfaction. She is currently in the fantasy realm and ready to step in a more reality based one. Basically, it will be all about finding the balance between both work and motherhood. Her next big gig at the moment is simply “Mommy and Me” and quality time with her son.

Neverbeast gruff

As a mom, I completely get it. In the meantime, she can rest assured that her son can “hear” his mommy in Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast as Fawn.
