Each new year brings thoughts of new beginnings and fresh starts. We feel as though it’s a great time to refocus and come up with a clearer vision of what we want to accomplish over the next 12 months. Resolutions are made and goals are set. The time to start fresh is now; we just have to do it.
Think about each of the areas in your life you need to really focus on in the new year. For many of us, our goals concentrate on four main areas of our life: relationships, lifestyle, commitments, and food. I mean, how packed are gyms and churches the first few weeks of January? We set our mind around what we want and got at it with full force… for a few weeks. It happens every year. What I’ve found works best is making little lifestyle changes to get you closer towards your end goal, therefore creating a habit in the way you do things.
Use this time to freshen up on those things that can help us achieve our goals.
Let’s talk food first. Losing weight or getting healthy are two of the most common goals set as the calendar changes. Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen makes it easy, convenient and tasty to accomplish both of these. They use fresh ingredients to make entrees from scratch in their kitchen. Therefore, you get a delicious-tasting homemade meal without having to cook. In today’s fast-paced world, this can provide scratch-made meals even when away from home.
Freshening up your lifestyle can often be a big change. Whether this means starting a new workout routine, finding a new hobby, or simply choosing to smile more, this requires dedication. Set small, achievable goals that get you one step closer to the big picture. As you begin to hit each goal, it will only catapult you into achieving the next, and then the next, until you’ve accomplish the original goal you set for yourself.
Speaking of you, once you feel better about the new direction you’re headed, it’s a perfect time to think about your relationship with others. From family to friends to co-workers, there’s always something you can do to reach out and strengthen those bonds. Send an actual handwritten letter to a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while. Invite your family to dinner and enjoy a nice conversation. The atmosphere at Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen is conducive to a laid-back, just like home mealtime. The important part is found in simply reaching out and letting others know you care.
Finally, freshen up those commitments. Whether you’ve committed something to yourself, a friend or family member, or your job, show up and make something happen. Once you put forth effort, you will be amazed at what you do!
Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen
“Scratch-made recipes, handcrafted with care and time.” Take a look in the kitchen at Cheddar’s and you will find twice as many cooks as other restaurants. They start their slow-cooked meats early each morning and then continue to cook throughout the day. Therefore, whenever you’re ready to eat, they’re committed and ready to serve.
- Grilled Chicken Pecan Salad — Grilled chicken breast, fresh greens, tomatoes, carrots, cheddar and jack cheese, honey roasted pecans
- Lemon Pepper Chicken — Grilled with lemon pepper seasonings, over rice, two sides (my favorite)
- Grilled Baja Chicken — Seasoned chicken breast served on homemade black beans and savory rice. Topped with fresh pico de gallo
