Riding in Style in the 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe #ChevyGivesBack

Our large family demands that we have a large enough vehicle to seat at least 7 of us… with 8 or 9 being ideal. We had a Suburban prior to buying the truck we currently own: a 2003 Chevy Tahoe. I LOVE my truck. And given the opportunity to drive a brand new one was a complete dream come true. It was such a smooth ride and the kids enjoyed riding in style for a week. How could they not? Just take a look at the 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe we drove around town for a week.

The outside of a vehicle is obviously going to be one of the first deciding factors when looking for a new car to drive. The 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe is stylishly built from front to back. The round, sleek design of the Sport Utility Vehicle is not unnoticed and does not keep the truck from being powerfully rugged and fun to drive. It was smooth handling and was comfortable in the turns. The bumps were easy with the excellent suspension under the truck and cruising was a breeze. The truck had good “get-up-and-go” when entering the highway or passing, not always easy to find in fullsize SUV’s. The V8 engine carries the truck well and the gas mileage easily matches that power at around 15 mpg in the city.

Comfort and Entertainment

The most fascinating part of the truck was the interior. Slipping into the front leather seats was a nice surprise. One of my favorite features? The heated AND cooled seats. Not only did the front seats have this feature, but the two captain chairs in the middle row were also heated. Plus, these two chairs also had a power release fold-and-tumble feature. One push of the button and the seats easily released and folded forward for easy in-and-out of the back seat. My kids loved that!

Plus, as the kids sat in the back, they had both comfort and entertainment. The overhead DVD player was quite a hit and made for a nice, easy ride around town. Especially when we could hand over the wireless headphones, turn on the radio for the rest of us, and then just ride as they watched a movie. My husband and I totally miss that feature!

But, we were also pretty spoiled in the front seats. The commercial-free SiriusXM Satellite Radio was a pleasant way to enjoy our favorite tunes as they blasted through the Bose Centerpoint® 10-speaker Surround Sound System. Well, blasted as loud as my sensitive ears could take although they could have gone much louder I’m sure. The sound was crisp and the music never stopped. Plus, if it did, we could easily plug in one of our iPhones through the USB port and sync our music through the Tahoe’s stereo.

Oh, and the rear vision camera was awesome! With an SUV that big, seeing items directly behind you when backing up can be difficult. With the rear vision camera, everything was easy to see and the navigation lines were the perfect solution to doing it right the first time.

And perhaps one of my favorite exterior features… the Side Blind Zone Alert. These blind post indicators are most likely very helpful when teaching your teens how to drive! But, I know I am constantly checking and double checking my blind spot, so seeing the bright orange light tells me to be careful. Plus, the 2013 Chevy Tahoe comes standard with several safety features that include:

  • Air bags, dual-stage frontal, driver and right-front passenger
  • LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Top tethers for CHildren)
  • StabiliTrak® Electronic Stability Control System with Traction Control
  • Tire Pressure Monitor System
  • OnStar features
  • Plus many more

2013 Chevrolet Tahoe

Overall, we were sad to see the Tahoe go. Each seat was designed for comfort on the road and the smooth ride was a nice way to travel. There was plenty of storage room behind the back seat for us to carry loads of groceries… as well as toys for the #ChevyGivesBack project. There were so many other accessories and features that made the 2013 Chevy Tahoe a great choice for a large family such as ours. I know I love my 2003 model but this 2013 sure was tempting! Oh, a girl can dream at least!

Disclosure: I was given a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe to drive for a week as part of the #ChevyGivesBack program in exchange for my honest review. No other compensation was given. Regardless, all opinions are 100% my own.

This is a really awesome Chevrolet Tahoe! They have so much room, and this SUV would be good to travel in because of its size and performance for taking long trips. This car looks well made, and I sure would love to drive the car!

  3. this car looks great! I would love to get one

  4. Very nice! I love that it comes with the overhead DVD, that’s something that another brand surely lacks. Not bad for fuel either!

  10. I agree! We have a 2003 Tahoe now, and we can fit 8 of us… plus all of our luggage… into the truck for road trips. I think there is more room in the back then some people realize. In fact, we were surprised the first time we made it work! 🙂

  11. Me too! It is now my dream car. Don’t get me wrong… I love my 2003 but all the bells and whistles on this one are incredibly nice!

  12. My toddler was not happy when she got back into our truck and there was no DVD player. It was nice to have for a week. And considering the size of the truck, and the fact that we drive a 2003, the gas mileage really wasn’t that bad. We need a vehicle this size for our family so we are used to those numbers. 🙂

  13. LOL… my girls LOVE that movie… and I must admit it holds a special place in my heart. It made me cry when we watched it in LA since I was already homesick. Hopefully we meet up again this year!!

  14. Ummm… yes… I was a little jealous when you drove one this summer. You know…. happy for you… sad for me! 🙂 It is an awesome truck!

  15. HaHa… is is! BIG! And beautiful! 🙂

  16. My mom always went for the GM cars whereas my dad was simply a “truck” person: GM or Ford. But, my 2 favorite cars from my childhood were my cousins ’74 Chevy Nova and my dad’s ’74 GMC Shortbed Pickup. I *may or may not* be drawn to the year 1974 for some crazy reason as well (ahem… year of birth). 🙂

  17. Very plush ride! We were so spoiled for the week. It was nice.

  18. It gave us something to shoot for. Hoping it doesn’t take 10 years to get one like it considering the one we have now is 10 years old. 🙂

This is definitely a beautiful vehicle. Perfect for a family 🙂

  20. Talk about a little spoiled. What a nice ride. I would love that heated feature on those cold mornings. Road trips with the kids would seem easier. Now I just need the money to go buy one. Ha Ha.
