Family Dinner and a Movie
With the cold weather approaching us here in North Texas, we tend to hibernate for the winter. Therefore, we look for fun family activities we can do inside. And a family dinner and a movie is one of our favorite ways to pass the winter months. Of course, with the change of seasons, that also means more illnesses. So, after spending Sunday night at the ER with Princess, we were ready to relax and take it easy on Monday. She was sick with fever for 3 days so keeping her inside was a must. Plus, she loves to lay on the couch and just relax when she is sick. Dinner and a movie was just what she needed.
Leaving the kids at home out of the cold, my husband and I set out to Walmart to drop off Princess’ prescription and pick up some food and a movie. The “arctic blast” had moved in, so we layered up and set out to shop.

We dropped off the prescription ad decided to finish up some Christmas shopping because we had a little bit of a wait. Our toddler needed new shoes… again… since she has already outgrown the ones we bought just two months ago. We also wanted to grab a few other foot accessories for other members of the family. And we remembered a few items we wanted to pick up for the girls that we had not yet found elsewhere. Additionally, we had one more stop by electronics for the movie we came for: Ice Age 3. Sid the Sloth is my favorite and this movie makes the girls happy. Not to mention, we want to get ready for Ice Age 4 that came out on DVD yesterday (12/11/12)!
Stouffer’s Lasagna
Our medicine still was not ready for pick up, but that was fine because we needed some dinner items for the next two nights. Since Princess was sick and we were tired from nursing her back to health the past couple of days, we grabbed something easy for us all. We found the Family Size Stouffer’s Lasagna and figured it would be perfect for our family. We were thrilled by the fact that it only required about 90 minutes to cook and did not take much effort. All we had to do was take the lasagna out of the box, put it in the oven, and let it bake.

We also picked up the New York Brand Texas Toast as a tasty side to the lasagna. My kids are like their father and love bread. We should probably grab two packages of the bread on the next shopping trip because one barely made it. There was actually a race to get the last piece. In the end one person ate the inside of the bread while another ate the crust. Well, whatever works! Plus, we could not believe how well our toddler ate the lasagna! She ate 2 helpings and then had 2 more later. I guess we have found her new favorite meal!

Wonka Mini SweetTarts
After dinner we all sat in the game room, turned down the lights, and prepared to watch Ice Age 3. We brought out a little treat for everyone since they ate their dinner so well and without complaint. There are coupons found on specially marked boxes of the Stouffer’s Lasagna for a free bag of Wonka candy when you purchase both the lasagna and Texas Toast together. Thus, we found a stand-up bag of Wonka Mini-Chewy SweetTarts for enjoying during the movie. Have you had these yet? Oh, they are tasty little things! I had never had the mini ones and was quite surprised by both their texture and taste. No wonder they wanted me to give these Wonka candies a try!

Now the kids are more than ready to see Ice Age 4. I guess we will be picking up another Family Size Stouffer’s Lasagna and more New York Texas Toast soon… as well as the Ice Age 4 DVD! We cannot wait for our next family dinner and movie night!
