I have been taking road trips ever since I was a kid. We drove all over the West side of the country… a few times. In fact, I never even stepped foot into a plane until I was 25 and that was for a 45 minute flight to San Antonio. It was not until the last year that I actually became a more frequent flyer. I love road trips.

Road Trip Memories
When I was younger we spent lots of time in Oklahoma at my grandparents’ cabin there. We, my entire family, would all drive up there on Friday evening and come back home on Sunday evening. My dad always had a truck with a camper that we could all hop in the back of and have a great time on the road. (This was back before all the seat belt laws and such were in effect, of course).
Christmas songs were belted out and we would laugh and talk the whole way up. Travel games were a regular and we would bring along card and dice games to play as well. One of our favorite things to do was to grab a small wipe board and write fun messages on it to others as we passed by. A simple, “Hello!” or other greeting usually. Always something nice. We were simply looking to get a reaction… and it was normally a bug smile, wave hello, or a honk. It made us happy to see others happy.

Nowadays I enjoy taking my children on these road trips. Although my grandparents have passed away and we do not get up to the cabin as much, we do still enjoy road trips. There is nothing we enjoy more than some fun times on the road. Whether we are driving to Florida for a vacation, Ohio for a conference, or as close as San Antonio for a little of both… we enjoy the bonding time and have a fabulous time.
In fact, we are already planning our next road trip. My son is begging to take the same journey I took with my parents when I was younger: Texas to California and then back around through Wyoming and Kansas back down to Texas. 10 states in 10 days. Next summer? I sure am hoping to make it so! Wonder if we can get a new Kia before then for a nice comfy ride around the SouthWest US? Hmmmmm…

My favorite Holiday Memory is when my family came in from Texas and got to play in the snow!
My favorite holiday was when i was younger we took a road trip to Reno Nevada in an r.v and i seen snow for the first time
my favorite holiday memory is of our entire family sitting around the christmas tree the year before my grandmother died. She had cancer and was getting worse so it was probably the only year that absolutely everyone in my family was there. It was such a great time together and will be with me forever
My favorite is every year we always find new ways to celebrate

Probaly a few Christmas 2010 because it was the first time I got to spend it with my whole family! Everyone was ther and it was great!
I LOVE road trips…my family lives 1100 miles away, back in Ohio…and we try to get home twice a year.. we never fly because with anywhere from 6-8 people going, it just isn’t cost effective
My kids love that we always stop in the middle of the night and eat at a place like waffle house…where I let them eat chocolate cream pie and french fries…lol ( NO..we do NOT eat like that normally!)
Our first white christmas was amazing for all of us.
I always loved going and driving through neighborhoods and looking at the Christmas lights.
Baking Christmas Cookies with my family!…best Christmas memories
We don’t usually travel on the holidays because our family lives in state. The only travel we do is for vacations!
