Do your kids come straight in from school wanting to eat? Some days I wonder if they were fed at all during the day. Nonetheless, the routine is to come in, drop their bags, and then straight to the the kitchen. The problem I find is often making sure they grab a healthy snack as they sit down to work on homework or play with their sister. The last thing I need is more sugar feeding their already energy-filled little bodies.
Therefore, I compiled a group of recipes from a couple of blogger friends and found some healthier options for them. Check out some of the snacks for kids I found below.

Healthy Homemade After School Snacks
- Oatmeal Date Bars
- Peach Turnovers
- Chocolate Chip and Almond Flax Cookies
- Honey Oat Quick Bread
- Easy Banana Muffins
- Banana Nut Cheerios Energy Bars
What snacks have you discovered that your kids enjoy? Do you make your snacks or are they all store-bought? I have a mixture of both on hand when possible. Sometimes it is hard to keep up with so many kids coming and going through my kitchen though.
Did you know October 15-19, 2012 is National School Lunch Week? Perhaps you can add one of these healthy snacks to your child’s school lunch as well!
Enjoy your snack time!
