Imagine having a platform where you can make a difference. Whether it is sharing news from other media outlets, telling consumers what you think about products, or raising awareness about important topics. Whatever brings you to the blog or website… those are the things that matter to me when I write. And, considering I desperately want to use the platform I have for a good cause, I was beyond thrilled when I was invited to join the 2012 National #HerHighway Drive to raise Breast Cancer Awareness.

Ultimate Road Trip
When you think of the ultimate road trip what do you envision? Do you recall a family trip you took in your childhood? As a parent? A trip you took with a car full of friends? I have taken several family road trips both as a child and as a parent. They are always entertaining and just the mention of the phrase stirs up a host of great memories. Yet, I feel as though the Her Highway Drive is going to be way beyond anything I have ever been on.
Imagine 4-5 women from all over the country in a car for 400-550 miles each day. But, these are women you may have never met in real life. Yet, your relationship has been established only through the virtual world. Tweets, Facebook statuses, and blog posts are the only insight you have into each of your traveling companions. Would you still be excited about going?

Breast Cancer Awareness
Honestly, that is EXACTLY what the Breast Cancer Awareness drive will be… but I am insanely excited and cannot wait to go! I have a general idea of who my team members will be but nothing is written in stone just yet. I can tell you that I do not personally know not even ONE of them… but they are all Power Houses in their particular field and I am honored to be in the car with them. The teams are made up of Social Media gurus, race car drivers, automotive experts, Breast Cancer Survivors and more! Women from all over the U.S. and from different genres coming together for one united cause: to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.

With “Pit Stops” along the way and a chance to meet the teams at TweetUp from restaurants, hotels, and stores along the way… you too can stay involved. And following along is as easy as following the #HerHighway hashtag on Twitter or liking the Her Highway Facebook page.
Watch for more blog posts to come as details become available and the drive kicks off on September 25th in California. There will also be Social Media team working to update everyone from home we drive from LA to NYC. It is going to be absolutely amazing!
