Encourage Literacy
As a homeschool mom for the past 10 years, education is important to me as it is most parents. But, when homeschooling you have to pay special attention to the curriculum you choose and how well it teaches your children. I am an avid reader and encourage literacy in my children. When I was a child my nose was often stuck in a book. I like the internet because of the vast amounts of information available to me at the touch of a button. My teens read when they are passionate about something, my 6 year old is more of a dreamer and is not often found reading, my 8 year old lives with her nose in books like her mom, and even my toddler is often found “reading” a book. She brings them to me several times a day to read to her. She loved looking through the What Children Need to Learn to Read book with me because of the fun activities we found to do together. But, even my 6 and 8 year old got involved in the many crafts, games, songs and more. It was perfect for each of them and made learning fun. Plus, the CD of music was perfect for helping to learn the songs and to dance around and get moving.
