About the book
Hope finds the hopeless when a storm hits.
It’s Christmas weekend 1949, and despite the threat of a storm, the townspeople of Frost are determined to continue their holiday traditions, if only as a means to forget the war that they had all just suffered through. But the suffering hasn’t ended for Dottie Morgan who lost her only son in the war. She’s preparing to wallow in her isolation for the weekend, when Violet, nearly a spinster at age 29, dares to make a request that will force Dottie to publicly revive the memory of her dead son.
When a storm traps the two women at home with a strange young man who has an unbelievable confession and a neighbor with more to do with Violet’s past than she would like, no one can predict how this Christmas will give them all a second chance.

My Review
Susan May Warren brings you into the lives of five characters as they are facing a bad blizzard just days before Christmas in the Post-WWII era. The past and trials of each person caught up in the storm is brought before them and they must learn to understand that God’s love for us has power. As they find themselves stranded in this storm house, you are reminded of the storms we each face in life. We are called to battle the storms of this life and walk with God through them to the other side. In fact, Susan writes:
Jesus is our Storm House. Our safe place. Inside his arms, we find family, comfort, and hope, and the courage to face our secrets and discover forgiveness. He gives us that place of peace inside the storm.
The characters are believable and the story line is a captivating one. Each character is somehow intertwined and detrimental is helping another find change and hope within themselves. They face a need to let go of their personal past and to be reborn. As the country is recovering from the war, their hearts are recovering from an inner war that also must come to an end. It is a heartwarming story that keeps you turning the page and wanting to know what happens next! I recommend this book to anyone looking for a loving, thought-provoking book to take on next!
